Nikki Ludgrove has been with The Goodman Partnership for nearly 18 months now and works in the paraplanning team. Like the rest of the four-strong team, she gets involved with client reports, annual client reviews and provides support to the financial advisers.
“When our financial advisers provide advice, we put together a bespoke report for that recommendation,” says Nikki. “Every piece of work is different, which adds variety to my role and it’s always busy here, which I enjoy.”
Nikki admits that finance wasn’t her career of choice when she was at school; instead she went to Kings College London to study Geography.
“I initially wanted to become a teacher. However, after graduating, I wanted a year out from studying and thought I would work for a year, before returning to do my PGCE,” she explains. “I accepted a role in London working as a front of house receptionist for a finance company. I enjoyed the role and the company so much that I ended up staying!”
From her initial job, Nikki progressed to a PA role and has spent the last ten years working in the finance industry. She joined The Goodman Partnership from an investment management firm in London’s West End, where she was working for two of the firm’s partners.
“My role at The Goodman Partnership has given me the opportunity to step out of being a PA and learn about paraplanning,” explains Nikki, who is currently working towards her CertPFS qualification. “I was looking for a role where I could use my years of financial experience with a firm which has a great culture and work ethic but which would also give me the support I need to progress to being a qualified Paraplanner, which is my goal. With The Goodman Partnership I’ve achieved that.”
She continues: “I was aware of The Goodman Partnership’s excellent reputation before I joined and knew they were only one of a few chartered firms locally.”
Nikki says she’s been impressed by the high level of customer service The Goodman Partnership provides to clients.
“Advice is bespoke and specifically tailored to each client and that really puts us high above our competitors,” she explains. “I’ve also come to see what an organised and well-run firm The Goodman Partnership is; ruthlessly efficient with everyone knowing what processes they are expected to follow.”
She continues: “That said, the team I work in is fantastic and we get on really well. Although we’re always busy, we do have fun and our regular baking competitions can end up quite competitive! I also get on well with the wider team and catch up with other colleagues for lunch or drinks when I can. It’s a great place to work.”
In her spare time, Nikki enjoys being active – skiing and mountain biking are two of her favourites, while she also regularly practises hot yoga and pilates. Swimming, however, is her great love. She is a member of the RTW Masters Swimming Club in Tunbridge Wells – Kent champions for 10 years in a row - and personally holds two Kent records in 200m and 400m freestyle, both of which she has set her sights on breaking this coming season.
